M-W-F Hot Tub Maintenance Program

M-W-F Hot Tub MaintenanceWe all want clear, clean water in our hot tubs all of the time. It does not have to be a burden or a chore with the simple M-W-F spa water care program.

To maintain a hot tub, you will need to test the water regularly, but having a Monday, Wednesday, Friday regiment means not worrying about the hot tub water when you, your family members or your visitors use the spa.  Getting into a routine keeps the process easy to manage and it becomes second nature to aspire to crystal clear water all of the time.

This takes only a couple of minutes three times a week.

Monday test the water with a test strip to assure there is sufficient bromine or chlorine sanitizer.  Never mix bromine and chlorine but choose one or the other as your main bacteria disinfectant.  On the test strip, you will also see pH and can adjust the pH up or down to stay within the 7.2-7.6 range.  Add 1 oz. of Protect on Mondays to prevent stain and scale buildup. This helps eliminate the water line and calcium buildup on the jets and heater.

On Wednesday, test the sanitizer and pH with the test strip and adjust as needed, then add 1 oz. of Sparkle clarifier.  This is a coagulent that binds all the small particulates so the filter can trap them and this gives you clear water.

Hot Tub MaintenanceFriday comes around and you test the sanitizer and pH and adjust.  Now add a capful of Refresh/shock treatment. This is an oxidizer that breaks up all the organic particles and helps get rid of them.  Not shocking the water at all can cause the water to smell even if the pH is balanced.  Shock treating the water once a week with Refresh assures consistently clean and clear water.

Now enjoy the weekend in your hot tub!
